Taking Flight was a pop-up art installation and working studio created by artists Deborah Jones and Lara Whitley, who work in collage, sculpture, and painting. Partnering with Willits Town Center, the artists moved into an empty storefront from April 14 > May 20, 2012 with the promise to revitalize the space with art. Over its five-week run, Taking Flight continually evolved and expanded, changing each day with the addition of new work created both on-site and for the site.
Grateful for the graphic design and marketing efforts by max_ink, Deb and Lara invited, artist/designer, Reina Katzenberger to work in the back room of the empty store front. Her painted mixed media wall piece is shown below in the photographs.
In May 2012, the cards from the artist's series 52 Pick Up filled the empty store front of the Taking Flight pop up installation at Willits Town Center in Basalt, Colorado. Following are images of the cards in flight.
